The syrup is still made exclusively by Roberts AB in Örebro. The syrup is sold to different soft drink manufacturers that then make the final product in their own way. This sweet Christmas drink was invented by a Swedish chemist called Harry Roberts. He picked up and perfected the recipe in Germany while he was studying there, unaware that it would one day become the favorite winter drink in Sweden. In 1910 Roberts came back home, and he and his father founded the Roberts AB in the city of Örebro.

Företaget grundades 1910 i Örebro med namnet Roberts essens- & extraktfabrik av Harry Roberts och hans far Robert Roberts. Julmust, which tastes like a blend of cola and root beer, was created by Swedish chemist Harry Roberts in the early 20th century as a nonalcoholic alternative to beer.
