Initially I wanted the long nosed tei version but whenever i wanted to order it it wasnt available. my sister md The Ki-45 arose from a March 1937 IJA specification for a twin-engined heavy fighter, in part inspired by Germany’s Messerschmitt Bf110 and Junkers Ju88 designs. While three firms, Mitsubishi, Kawasaki, and Nakajima initially submitted designs, more pressing contracts soon took Mitsubishi and Nakajima out of the running. Nonetheless, the Ki-45's greatest strength proved to be its bomber intercepting capabilities. Heavily armed with a 37 mm cannon, the Ki-45 could shred heavy bombers with ease. By mid 1944, the need for a bomber destroyer to defend the Japanese mainland against B-29 raids was ever present.

The Kawasaki Ki-45 Toryu was a heavy fighter that was used by Japan during World War II. The first production model of the Ki-45 series was the Ki-45 KAIa. It had a crew of two and dual 975 hp Mitsubishi Ha-102 Engines that were capable of propelling the Toryu at speeds of up to 540 km/h.1 The armament of the KAIa was a single 20mm cannon, two 12.7mm, wing mounted MGs, and a 7.92mm MG mounted 2019-05-15 · The Ki-45 Toryu (meaning "Dragon Killer" or "Dragon Slayer" and nicknamed "Nick" by the Allies) would go on to find success at many differing levels, but more importantly, it would provide the Imperial Army with the much needed Ki-45 KAIc dedicated night-fighter platform (detailed elsewhere on this site), and challenge the night time bombing campaign of the Allies over control of the Pacific History The Kawasaki Ki-45 was the first attempt by Japanese manufacturers to provide the JAAF with a modern twin-engine fighter. The original specification was issued to Nakajima, Mitsubishi, and Kawasaki in 1937, but the first two soon withdrew from the project, Kawasaki continued into 1939 with the completion of the Ki-45 prototype.
